What is pipe relining?
It is simply a method of placing a new pipe in an existing damaged pipe without the need for excavation. The new pipe is moulded into the damaged pipe by an ingenious method called “inversion” using water or air pressure.
An example of a piece of liner.
At Drain Technology we use different types and methods of pipe relining depending
on the application and the surrounding environment.
Benefits of relining a pipe over Excavation
Minimal cost
Minimal disruption or inconvenience
Strengthens existing pipe
Resistant to leaks or root penetration
Drains return to full operation quicker!
One example of how pipes can detoriate
Small crack appears due to accidental overloading or ground movement.
Crack gets wider due to movement and effluent leaks into soil.
Soil wash out increases with time.
Due to lack of soil support crack grows into a fracture as it cannot take load above it.
Pipe loses its circular shape.
Pipe collapses due to sudden loading that caves soil inwards.
